The founder of the law firm "Mogilnitsky and Partners" Maksim Mogilnitsky commented on the statement of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal that the state supports social activities of the OCU and provides "full social and economic support" to it.
“I beg to differ! Does the state provide "full social and economic support" to Muslims? What about the support for Catholics, Protestants and Buddhists? Does the Motherland not forget about Jehovah's Witnesses, as well as representatives of other religions?
In 2020, in general, does it make sense to remind those in power of the existence of the Constitution, which clearly states that the Church and religious organizations in Ukraine are separated from the state, and therefore it has no right to support one of the Churches? " - wrote the lawyer on his Facebook page.
Mogilnitskiy stated that in Ukraine the Basic Law "works only in those cases when it is beneficial to the elites".
“I suspect that we will soon have obligatory state churches and religions. Got it!" he resumed.
As reported, at a meeting with the head of the Phanar, which took place in Istanbul on November 30, 2020, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal said that Ukraine provides full social and economic support to the OCU – "a reliable partner of state institutions".
