Journalist and media expert Yuriy Molchanov, on the air of 112 TV channel, commented on the statement of the OCU, as if its supporters in the village of Mikhalcha had come on December 12 not to seize the temple of the UOC but to “pray”.
“Is it now so fashionable to go to pray with brass knuckles, shouts and slogans?! The lexicon there, to put it mildly, is not Orthodox. They came to establish their "Christian" rules not with prayer and preaching, but with fists and brass knuckles,” the expert said.
“I can understand politics, I can understand everything. I can't understand one thing. Among these people was a man who calls himself a priest. Let’s now remove confessions and patriarchies to have Christianity left – can that person call himself a priest?” the expert noted.
In light of this situation, Yuri Molchanov commented on the words of the head of the OCU that after quarantine he expects a large-scale transfer of supporters of the UOC to the OCU.
“If the transition proceeds in such a way, it could end badly for the country. Zelensky managed to bring the fire in the inter-church confrontation under control, yet someone is trying to cause serious deformation into this fragile world," Molchanov emphasized.
Recall that on Saturday, December 12, 2020, OCU activists staged an assault at the Holy Dormition church in the village of Mikhalcha, Storozhynets district, Chernivtsi region, where the religious community of the canonical Church, once illegally re-registered in favor of the OCU, has been defending its right to freely profess the Orthodox faith since February 10, 2019 ,
As the UOJ previously reported, the media told how the OCU organized the assault in Mikhalcha.
