On December 25, the UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) took part in the celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of Metropolitan Nikodim of Severodonetsk and Starobelsk in Severodonetsk.

Metropolitan Anthony said that the path to peace lies through mutual forgiveness and love, reports the UOC Information Centre.

“In the days of the anticipation of Christmas, I would like to provide special prayer support to the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church who live on the territory of the Severodonetsk and Starobelsk eparchies. The parishes of our Church are located on both sides of the line. The end of the war in the Donbass must take place, first of all, in the hearts of the people. The days of the Nativity Fast are the best time to conquer hatred in your soul. Mutual forgiveness and prayer for a neighbour is the path to peace," said the UOC Chancellor.

“The Gospel and the centuries-old experience of the Church help to understand that only love can change a person, which means it can change the world,” added Metropolitan Anthony.

As previously reported, 100 trees were planted in the place of the burnt forest near the church near Severodonetsk.
