In an interview with Holos Ameryky, the head of the OCU, Serhiy Dumenko, compared the UOC to terrorists who carried out attacks in France in 2011 and called them dangerous enemies trying to disguise themselves as Ukrainians. He stated that the issue of the UOC needs to be "settled."
Commenting on the adoption of the bill banning the UOC, Dumenko equated it to the situation in France, when in 2011, after a series of terrorist attacks, France “prohibited Islamic communities from having ties with certain countries.”
Dumenko assured that the OCU is the largest religious association in Ukraine, with around 2,000 communities joining it since 2019.
“Communities join peacefully, calmly, voluntarily, and without any persecution. Appropriate decisions are made in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. Everything happens in the legal field, and the OCU is interested in this. During this time we have won all the lawsuits. We are creating a single Local Orthodox Church forever. Everything has to be done correctly and is being done correctly,” he said.
As reported by the UOJ, Serhiy Dumenko stated that ultimately everyone will be part of the OCU, whether they want it or not.
