UOC Primate leads festivities on assembly day of Kyiv Theological Schools

On November 9, 2023, on the feast day of the heavenly patron of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, Venerable Nestor the Chronicler, and the Synaxis of the Saints of the KTA, Metropolitan Onuphry, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, led a festive service and the annual ceremony of the Kyiv Theological Schools at the Intercession Holosiiv Monastery. This information was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

During the Divine Liturgy in the academic church dedicated to the Venerable John of Damascus, the First Hierarch was concelebrated by UOC Chancellor Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, the Head of the Educational Committee at the Holy Synod Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, the Rector of the KTA Archbishop Silvester of Bilohorodka, other hierarchs, teachers, students of the Kyiv Theological Schools, and guests from other educational institutions of the UOC.

Choirs of students, directed by Archimandrite Leontiy (Tupkalo) and Hieromonk Ioasaph (Mironov), performed liturgical hymns.

Participants in the liturgy offered prayers for the Ukrainian people, authorities, and the military, asking the Lord to grant peace to Ukraine.

Metropolitan Onuphry awarded the academic staff of the academy and seminary with liturgical awards.

During the annual ceremony held in the auditorium of the KTA, the Primate addressed the attendees with congratulatory and instructive words. He also presented church awards to the staff and benefactors of the theological schools.

The teachers of the KTA received new academic titles, and the best students were awarded scholarships named after Metropolitan Volodymyr (Sabodan) and Metropolitan Onuphry.

As reported by the UOJ, on October 24, 2023, the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary hosted the XV International Scientific and Practical Conference "Spiritual and Secular Education: History of Relationships – Modernity – Perspectives," attended by representatives of educational institutions of the UOC, as well as secular universities of Ukraine and other countries.
