On November 20, 2023, representatives of the OCU, with the help of police and raiders in military uniform, seized the UOC nunnery in honor of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Cherkasy.

As a source from the scene told the UOJ, at the moment about 30 parishioners are praying near the shrine. The number of raiders and police has increased. The monastery itself was seized, and the nuns, along with the abbot, were evicted from the monastery.

The Telegram channel “Watch on the First Cossack” reports that the raiders are dividing the property of the convent among themselves. One of the minibuses was requisitioned allegedly “for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” and allegedly “with the consent of Archbishop John.”

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the raiders are again trying to take over the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Convent in Cherkasy.
