Intentionally discontinuing treatment, doctors at Cherkasy Hospital No. 3 discharged two men who suffered from the attack by the representatives of the OCU on the Monastery of the Nativity of the Theotokos in Cherkasy, reports the head of the Legal Department of the Cherkasy Eparchy, Archpriest Georgy Pohranichny.

The individuals affected are 76-year-old monastery parishioner Oleh Slobodianyk and reader Viacheslav Korkots. Initially, doctors diagnosed Slobodianyk with a fractured leg with displacement, but later, after blows to the head from the attackers, he began to lose vision in his left eye.

According to the head of the Legal Department, the eparchy ensured that Slobodianyk had an MRI examination after he was discharged, as the medics at the hospital did not see fit to do so.

"Normally, they don't discharge with such injuries. Oleh complains of headaches and partial loss of vision. Viacheslav was examined by doctors; as a result of the beating, he should undergo another operation on the nasal septum. Doctors did not react to this at all. They need a break in the victims' hospital stay so that subsequent injuries that will be revealed cannot be linked to criminal proceedings," said Fr Georgy.

The priest also noted that when the men were discharged, they were not given special statements about the injuries they must have suffered due to the beating.

"Such injuries should not only be recorded in the discharge; the hospital must give a full statement. We have already demanded it, and that with a scandal. First, they gave us a normal discharge and said goodbye. We need to address the forensic expert with something," he added.

Earlier, representatives of the OCU seized the UOC monastery in Cherkasy.

As reported, the police opened a criminal case after the beating of UOC believers in Cherkasy.
