Pope Francis revealed that he does not want to be buried in the Vatican, as he has chosen another location for his burial, according to the Vima Orthodoxias publication.
In an interview with the Mexican television channel "N+," Pope Francis said that he has requested to be buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, located near the central railway station in Rome, "Termini".
In this church, there is a Byzantine icon of the Virgin Mary, "Salus Populi Romani" ("Salvation of the Roman People"), before which the Pope prays upon returning from each of his journeys.
"I want to be buried in this church because of my great faith," said Francis.
Earlier, it was reported that the Pope dismissed a bishop of the Roman Catholic Church in America who spoke out against abortions and LGBT rights.
