Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, Deputy Head of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC, said in his telegram channel that the adoption of anti-church law No. 5143, initiated by the Servant of the People Party, would lead their political force to the loss of power and political bankruptcy.
“The Servant of the People Party, like other parties, must understand that any legislative initiatives that may be perceived by the believers of the UOC as directed against the Church will lead their political power to a total loss of rating, an increase in anti-rating, loss of power and even political bankruptcy," said the spokesman of the UOC.
Danilevich added that "Poroshenko already has a similar experience and not only him" and quoted David’s Psalms.
"Why do the nations rebel and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together against the Lord and His Anointed One. The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them’ (Psalm 2: 1-2,4)," the spokesman of the UOC quoted the Bible.
Let us remind you that the MPs from the Servant of the People Party introduced bill No. 5143, which provides for criminal liability for religious organizations for cooperation with the aggressor state or non-controlled territories.
As the UOJ previously reported, Servants of the People propose to close religious organizations “for treason”.
