By the decision of the President of France Emmanuel Macron, the country's prime minister has become openly gay for the first time – 34-year-old Gabriel Attal, reports rfi.fr.

He is the youngest head of government in French history.

The future prime minister was born into a family of a Tunisian Jew, Yves Attal, and an ethnic Greek woman, Marie de Curis, whose parents were immigrants from Odessa. She raised her children in Orthodoxy, and in his childhood, Gabriel attended a Russian church. In high school, he became an activist of the Socialist Party.

In 2017, Attal entered into a "civil union" with Stephane Sejourne – currently the Secretary-General of the presidential party "Revival" and the leader of the liberal parliamentary group Renew Europe in the European Parliament.

In 2018, Attal was appointed Secretary of State for Education, and in July 2023, he became the head of this ministry. His decision as the new minister to ban the wearing of Muslim clothing, the abaya, in schools, caused a wide resonance in France.

According to euronews.com, in his new position, Gabriel Attal promised to pay close attention to the youth. He stated that young people are "a generation that deserves to be fought for tirelessly."

As reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus of the Greek Orthodox Church stated that homosexuality is the epitome of evil, which separates man from God.
