On March 7, 2021, representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took part in the episcopal consecration of Bishop Nikiforos of Botoşani, vicar bishop of the Iași Metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church, according to the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

The consecration, which took place in the Cathedral of the city of Iași in Romania, was officiated by Metropolitan Theophanes of Iași in concelebration of eight bishops.

The priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Archpriest Dimitri Popescu presented the representatives of the Romanian Patriarchate with memorial signs from the Chancellor of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary.

The priest told the bishops present about the real situation in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, about the seizure of temples and the persecution of the faithful children of the canonical Church.

The hierarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church wished steadfastness in faith to the clergy and believers of the UOC and assured them of prayer support in this difficult time.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the position of the Romanian Church on the OCU had not changed.
