"Acting abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" from the OCU Avrahamiy Lotysh said in an interview with "Telegraf" that the AFU soldiers record videos from the front line in support of the UOC only because they do not know the reality.

"Indeed, soldiers record videos in support of the UOC because they are parishioners of this Church, but when the soldiers are on the front line, they do not always have information about the reality," he said.

At the same time, Lotysh recalled that the UOC publicly spoke out against Russian aggression. In particular, he noted the statement of the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, who on the first day of the war condemned the invasion of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, the OCU representative believes that the statement of the UOC Primate was not enough. According to him, the "loud statement" of His Beatitude Onuphry allegedly "was the only one, after which there was silence".

As reported, according to an AFU warrior, 70% of his battalion are UOC parishioners.

In 2023, the UOC donated to the AFU and war victims more than 88 million hryvnias.
