On February 26, 2024, at the age of 59, Professor Sviatoslav Chokaliuk of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy of the OCU passed away. He was previously referred to as the paternal uncle of the head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko. Rector of the KOTA, Oleksandr Trofymliuk, announced this on his Facebook page.
The rector of the academy did not disclose the cause of Chokaliuk's death.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in 2019, Sviatoslav Chokaliuk became the head of the Institute of Church and Society at the theological academy of the OCU.
Recall that the head of the UOC-KP, Filaret Denisenko, stated that Epifaniy Dumenko is the illegitimate son of the late "archbishop" of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Daniel Chokaliuk.
