Patriarch of Jerusalem: Unity of Local Churches is absolutely necessary

On March 21, 2024, His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, stated that the unity of Orthodox Local Churches is an absolute necessity.

During a meeting with the ambassador of Romania to Israel, Radu Ioanid, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem spoke about the difficult situation in the Holy Land, especially in Gaza, due to the warfare that has been going on for several months.

The parties also discussed the relationship between the Jerusalem Patriarchate and the Romanian Patriarchate.

During this meeting, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem emphasized the absolute necessity of unity among Orthodox Churches and the contribution of the Jerusalem Church to the cause of unity.

His Beatitude reminded about the Meeting of Church Leaders in Amman in February 2020, highlighting the role of the Jerusalem Patriarchate in this event.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Archbishop Theodosios of Sebastia called for an end to the persecution of the UOC.
