The Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople has established the Metropolis of Ireland, Orthodoxtimes reports, thus responding to the initiative of Archbishop Nikita of Thyateira and Great Britain. Bishop Iakovos of Zinoupolis was appointed as the Metropolitan for this newly established Metropolis.
The Holy Synod also elected two Auxiliary Bishops, Archimandrites Antonios Avramopoulos and Nektarios Papazafeiropoulos.
It is reported that the new Metropolis of Ireland will separate from the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain due to the growing congregation in Ireland.
As reported by the DECR UOC, the UOC told how Ukrainian Orthodox communities in Ireland were developing.
