The Vatican, which is proposed by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky as a place for a possible meeting with the Head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to discuss the conflict in Donbas, is unlikely to lead to good results, since even the Pope's loyal aides openly say that the Vatican has become one of the levers of world politics, which is controlled by "Masters of the New World Order." Metropolitan Luke (Kovalenko) of Zaporizhia and Melitopol wrote about this in his Telegram channel and added that Jerusalem could be an ideal venue.
In addition, according to the bishop of the UOC, for the population of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Vatican is a synonym for the UGCC and Uniatism, which in eastern Ukraine is associated with the political ideology of inciting a military conflict. “From the point of view of the inhabitants of Donbas, Uniatism and the political ideology associated with it are the foundations on which a military conflict incited, hatred is sown between people, the ambitions of the so-called ‘the party of war’ are satisfied, which is doing everything possible to ensure that the bloodshed in our land does not stop," wrote the Metropolitan.
Vladyka Luke believes that the Vatican can affect the prospects for the implementation of Zelensky's good initiative, turning him towards someone else's interests and plans. “Therefore, if it comes to finding a place is needed for negotiations, then from an ideological point of view, as well as the current political attitudes, Jerusalem may become an ideal option for the two countries, in my opinion,” the metropolitan summed up.
As reported by the UOJ, Zelensky proposed to hold a meeting with Putin at the Vatican.
