Ukraine's Ambassador to the Vatican, Andriy Yurash, has stated that Ukrainian diplomats have appealed to the Vatican's special service to "not repeat the bitter experience of the past", referring to the traditional Way of the Cross on Easter involving a Ukrainian and a Russian, as reported by Glavcom.
Yurash referred to the event in 2022 during Easter when, as part of the traditional Way of the Cross, the Vatican tasked Ukrainian and Russian women with carrying the cross together, with the aim of reconciliation. Despite the outcry in Ukraine, this event was repeated in 2023, with boys from Russia and Ukraine participating.
As reported by the UOJ, Pope Francis called for negotiations to end the wars in Ukraine and Palestine.
