In western Ukraine, nationalists threaten the Archbishop-Metropolitan of the Lviv Archdiocese of the RCC, Mieczyslaw Mokshitsky, because of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, reports "Vesti.ua".
According to the newspaper's own sources, recently the leaders of the Lviv cells of the Right Sector, Taras Bobanich, and the National Corps, Stepan Viniar, "talked" with the acting Chairman of the Conference of Bishops of the RCC in Ukraine Mieczyslaw Mokshitsky so that he begins to discredit the canonical Orthodox Church.
“De facto, both gave him an ultimatum: their demand is to carry out propaganda work among the Catholic flock through the clergy of the Lviv Archdiocese subordinate to him. The goal is to create a negative image for the UOC in the region. And in case of refusal, both allegedly threatened Mokshitsky with blocking Catholic parishes throughout the country, and, according to our source, even with physical violence,” writes the resource.
At the same time, there is no official confirmation of this information, "Vesti.ua" clarifies, and the press secretary of the Lviv Archdiocese, Fr. Andrei Legovich denied the very fact of such a conversation in a commentary to the publication: “We did not have such meetings”.
Earlier Mokshitsky said that Ukrainian nationalism is one of the biggest problems of the Roman Catholic Church in the East. He also called on the Ukrainians to repent for the Volyn tragedy and asked the Uniates to return at least some of the churches that were previously Roman Catholic.
