On April 2, 2024, Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail performed a moleben in the Transfiguration Cathedral of the UOC before the restoration of the wall in the altar of St. Peter, which was hit by a Russian missile on July 23, 2023. Representatives of the construction company "Stikon", Italian benefactors, and the mayor of Odesa, Henadiy Trukhanov, attended the service, the press service of the Odesa Eparchy reports.

"Almost the entire roof of the cathedral has already been covered, the columns of the rotunda have been leveled, and active construction work on the destroyed part of the altar continues," the message says.

After the joint prayer, the bishop thanked everyone present for their help and support.

"We believe and hope that soon a prayer of thanksgiving will be heard for peace and a calm sky in the restored Transfiguration Cathedral!" the diocese wrote.

As the UOJ reported, Italy donated 500 thousand euros for the destroyed UOC cathedral in Odesa.
