Junior Sergeant of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Larysa Zburliuk commented on the arrest of the representative of the Public Union "Myriany", Archpriest Sergiy Chertylin, and spoke about a mistake that could cost Father Sergiy his life, as reported in a video published by the "Myriany".
According to Zburliuk, there is currently an FSB sabotage in Kyiv, as they have started imprisoning Ukrainian patriots who assist the Ukrainian Armed Forces. She recounted that before the arrest, Archpriest Sergiy Chertylin consulted with her about purchasing an evacuation vehicle for the needs of the frontline.
The military medic urges to spread this information as much as possible, as Father Sergiy is ill, with critically low hemoglobin levels, and it is vital to release him from detention under house arrest.
As reported by the UOJ, on March 12, 2024, law enforcement conducted searches among journalists working in church or near-church media outlets – the Union of Orthodox Journalists, the "Pershyy Kozatsky" channel, as well as among human rights activists and public activists – representatives of the Public Union "Myriany" and the Center for Legal Protection of the UOC.
As a result of the measures taken, the SBU detained 4 Orthodox journalists – Volodymyr Bobechko, Valeriy Stupnitsky, Andriy Ovcharenko, and Archpriest Sergiy Chertylin. At the moment, all of them are being held in custody without the right to bail. Several others have been charged with various degrees of serious crimes, including those punishable by life imprisonment.
