Maryna Poroshenko, the leader of the Eurosolidarity faction in the Kyiv City Council, announced that deputies voted on two draft resolutions, under which the government will organize inspections of property and land plots belonging to "religious organizations led by the aggressor country Russia on the territory of Kyiv."
The inspections will assess the proper condition of agreements. If a lease agreement has expired, it will not be renewed, and the congregation will be forced to vacate the church. If the agreement has not yet expired, the authorities will seek legal action to terminate it prematurely.
As reported by the UOJ, in September 2023, the Kyiv City Council considered a project to demolish 74 UOC churches, but it did not receive enough votes.
