On June 20, around 10 a.m., supporters of the OCU entered the grounds of St. George's Church of the UOC in Irpin, Kyiv region, and cut the church doors, reports the Dozor_kozak1 Telegram channel.
Father Oleksandr Fedorichko, the dean of Irpin, told journalists that the church raid was led by public activist Serhiy Vozny, who was an associate of the traitor MP Ilya Kiva before the war. The transfer of the church was overseen by the city mayor Oleksandr Markushyn. Members of the voluntary territorial community formation were also involved.
When the parishioners of St. George's Church gathered near the church, police prevented them from entering.
According to Father Oleksandr, all this time activists and clergy of the OCU insulted the faithful of the UOC, inciting hatred. They justified their right to seize the church with documents that, according to UOC religious community members, were forged.
As reported by the UOJ, in February 2024, Serhiy Voznyi and "lawyer" Ihor Hryshachev transferred two UOC communities in the Kyiv region to the OCU: St. Nicholas in the village of Zahaltsi and the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Myrcha. These individuals, who have already carried out more than ten "transitions" in the villages of Kyiv region, were accompanied by OCU "priest" Dmytro Koshka.
