His Beatitude thanks the UOC clergy and faithful for their support

On June 25, 2021, on the day of his namesake and the 50th anniversary of monasticism, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, thanked the clergy and faithful of the UOC for their congratulations and support. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

During the festive divine service, which the Primate officiated on the square in front of the Assumption Cathedral of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on June 25th, His Beatitude was accompanied by metropolitans, archbishops and bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as well as guests in the priesthood and the clergy of the monastery. The abbess and sisters of various monasteries, students of theological educational institutions of Ukraine and numerous believers prayed with their Archpastor.

At the end of the Liturgy, “Many Years” were sung to His Beatitude, after which the Chancellor of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, read out congratulations from the Primates and representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches: Russian, Georgian, Polish, the Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, Belarusian and Antioch.

The senior bishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail, pronounced to the Primate a welcoming speech on the occasion of the latter’s namesake day.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry thanked for the congratulations and noted everyone’s steadfastness in faith in times of trial.

“The best qualities of a person are manifested precisely in difficult times <...> The trials that we have experienced have shown that you are truly bearers of God's grace,” he said to the archpastors and clergy.

“Thank you for your support, and may the Lord bless us all with the prayers of the Monk Onuphrius,” the Primate wished to the clergy and faithful of the UOC.

At the end of the service, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry received congratulations from the flock.
