The head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, stated that to correctly convey the Vatican’s messages to Ukrainian society, two strategic groups have been created. These groups will help the "Holy See to come up with its categories of assessment and thinking regarding the situation in Ukraine." Shevchuk mentioned this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"Since the beginning of the full-scale war, misunderstandings have existed between Ukrainian society and the Holy See. Ukraine does not always understand the Pope. We are working seriously on this matter. On the one hand, both the Pope personally and the Holy See are strategic partners of Ukraine, supporting Ukraine, but in their own way. We might expect one type of support and receive another. What is the secret of this misunderstanding? We need to better or more deeply help in forming the understanding of Ukraine for both the Holy Father Pope Francis and the Holy See," said the head of the UGCC.
He also noted that it is important to explain the Pope’s words to Ukrainian society, and the UGCC’s strategic groups will be engaged in this as well.
As reported by the UOJ, earlier the Synod of the UGCC made a statement regarding the Pope's call for Ukraine to raise the "white flag".
