Representatives of the Miriane Public Union discussed the problem of violation of the constitutional rights of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Mykhailo Podolyak, Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the organization's tg-channel reported on July 5, 2021.

The “laity” recalled that after the prayer standing on June 15, 2021, they wrote an open letter to Mikhail Podolyak, asking him to meet and inform the authorities in more detail about the position of the UOC laypeople, since, from the point of view of the participants in the movement, Vladimir Zelensky was not duly informed about the purpose of the prayer action of believers at the Verkhovna Rada and the Office of the President.

“Mikhail Podolyak's answer was positive and prompt. During the meeting, we were assured that the normalization of interreligious issues is an integral and priority work for the Office of the President. Our meeting resulted in establishing an open and direct dialogue with the authorities, as well as agreement to cooperate in the future. We thanked each other for the concern about current issues millions of Orthodox Ukrainians care about,” the public organization said.

This meeting with the representative of the OP and its outcome testifies that the prayer standing of the UOC believers is not in vain, assures the “Miriane”.

“They see us and hear us. And although the result of our prayer actions are so far only verbal statements by the representatives of the authorities, there is no doubt that in the case of consistent work, the legal requirements of the laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be fulfilled,” the organization stressed, thanking all participants in the prayer meeting on June 15.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the “Miriane” called on the Ukrainian authorities to strictly observe the Constitution.
