On July 11, a fire broke out at Rouen Cathedral in France. One of the highest Gothic churches in the world is engulfed in flames. The incident was confirmed on social media by Rouen Mayor Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol. According to him, all state resources have been mobilized, and workers and visitors have been evacuated.

At the time of the fire, reconstruction work was being carried out on the cathedral's roof, and the spire of the building caught fire. The causes of the fire are being determined.

The Gothic cathedral in Rouen is a French national heritage monument, built between the 12th and 16th centuries. The iron spire, which is reportedly burning now, was added later.

As previously reported, on April 15, 2019, a major fire broke out in one of the world's main Christian shrines, Notre-Dame Cathedral in France.
