The head of the territorial community in the Nadvirna district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Zinoviy Andriyovych, stated that he has finally halted the activities of the religious community of St. George the Victorious of the UOC in Nadvirna, reports Informator.
He displayed an extract from the Unified Register on the liquidation of the UOC's legal address in Nadvirna.
Andriyovych complained that it was not easy to liquidate the Church: public hearings had to be held, and then it took several months to wait for the decision. However, he noted that the authorities made every effort to ensure that the Nadvirna community was one of the first in the region to get rid of the UOC.
"They were underground here. No church, no land, gathering in a house," Andriyovych boasted about how he made life difficult for the UOC community.
As reported by the UOJ, Mayor Andriyovych had earlier urged people "not to be indifferent" and to inform the police as soon as they learn about UOC believers holding services.
