The head of the Greek Archdiocese of the Phanar in the USA, Archbishop Elpidophoros (Lambriniadis), prayed for presidential candidate Donald Trump and his advisors, asking for wisdom, grace, and the spirit of duty for them. Archbishop Elpidophoros published the text of the prayer on his Facebook page.

"Grant unto the nominee, President Donald J. Trump, and to his advisors and counselors, wisdom, grace, and the spirit of duty, that they may embrace all Americans’ needs, shining the light of good government upon the venerable institutions of the 'world’s best hope' for everyone’s life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness," wrote the Archbishop.

As reported by the UOJ, the head of the Greek Archdiocese of the Phanar had previously actively supported the current U.S. President Joe Biden.

"I'm sure you know that President Biden began his political career more than fifty years ago with the warm support of the Greek-American community in his state of Delaware," he would say. "I know that in the person of President Biden, our Church and Hellenism find a friend in the Oval Office."
