Maksym Zhorin, Deputy Commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade and former commander of Azov, expressed outrage that Members of Parliament do not want to support bill 8371, which effectively bans the UOC. He wrote about this on his Telegram channel, calling the Church a "blatant hotspot of Russian agents".
"So, the MPs, representing an entire branch of Ukrainian power, are against closing the Russian Federation's enclave in Ukraine! Moreover, we still haven't seen the MPC (Moscow Patriarchate Church – Trans.) defenders-Dmytruks even being questioned by law enforcement agencies. It’s obvious that this needs to be urgently stopped because they’re getting more audacious by the day," Zhorin wrote.
As the UOJ reported, the head of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, published a greeting on the 1036th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, in which he stated that this week he would "enter combat" against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, calling it an "unclean force against the faith".
