Chaplain of the OCU from Hlukhiv, Sumy region, Nazar Kovalev, on his Instagram, called on his followers to light candles for the repose of the "dead soul" of the U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump.

In the opinion of the cleric from Dumenko’s structure, Trump "succumbed to the temptation of evil" and entered into a pact with it.

"There is no other way except God's judgment to cause awareness of the great evil that the Presidential candidate has succumbed to," the OCO "priest" said obviously alluding to Trump's stance on ending the war in Ukraine.

It is known that lighting a candle for repose is a ritual aimed against ill-wishers with the intent to harm their health and even their life. This not only contradicts Christianity but also has an occult foundation.

As the UOJ wrote, the OCU has canceled the veneration of several Marian icons and saints "associated with the ROC".
