Ukrainian MP from the Holos party, Andriy Osadchuk, stated that bill No. 8371, which effectively bans the activities of the UOC, should be passed while the U.S. Congress is on recess.

He began his speech regarding Western signals not to pass bill 8371 with a rhetorical question: "Are we going to rely on some perception of reality 10,000 kilometers away from Ukraine?!" asked the MP.

However, he then moved on to other proposals: "I think we should take advantage of the opportunity that will arise in August. You probably know that Congress decided to take a little break... So, I think while there's a lull in America, we probably need to close this issue once and for all by Independence Day."

As the UOJ reported, Andriy Osadchuk previously stated that the reluctance to vote for bill No. 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, might be due to the fact that the fate of the UOC will be discussed in negotiations with Russia.
