The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience responded to the criticism from MP Sofia Fedina of the 'European Solidarity' faction regarding the State Service's conclusion on bill 8371, which effectively bans the UOC.

Fedina wrote on Facebook that the officials of the State Service for Ethnopolitics sabotaged work on this bill and at the last moment published their critical remarks regarding its latest version.

"Today, they wrote that the issue of national security has nothing to do with the activities of the Moscow church, and now everyone owes you? Maybe you should defend the church of the aggressor country less???" the MP wrote.

In response, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience quoted the Apostle Paul.

"We earnestly ask you, dear Ms. Sofia, to read what your fellow MPs submit. Do not fall for provocations, clearly prepared outside of Ukraine. 'But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself rather to godliness.' (1 Timothy 4:7)," the agency's comment reads.

As the UOJ reported, the State Service wants to revise bill 8371 so that "it does not become a laughingstock."
