A hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Chrysostomos III of Mani, has expressed his dissatisfaction to the French Ambassador regarding the blasphemous anti-Christian scenes during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris. The letter from the Greek archbishop was published on the Romfea website.
"In the context of Greek-French friendship, and as a former student of the renowned Sorbonne University, I express my regret and dissatisfaction with the blasphemous incident during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, specifically the sacrilegious representation of the 'Last Supper', which is a significant element of European Christian culture," the message states.
The Metropolitan, addressing the ambassador, expressed his hope that "such provocative and anti-religious actions will not be repeated in the future."
As the UOJ previously reported, the Primate of the Greek Church criticized the opening of the Olympics.
