By their participation in the festivities dedicated to the Baptism of Rus, believers have the opportunity to once more testify to the strength of their faith and their unity, Bishop Viktor (Kotsaba) of Baryshevka noted on his Facebook page.
“One Church,” wrote the hierarch. “One Christ. One nation. One country. And the Lord God is with us all!
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is the only one, and each of us is Her integral part. It is during the Cross Procession in Kyiv that we will be able to see clearly how the Church unites East and West, North and South of our country. And no forces of different origins, no internal or external circumstances will be able to break our unity, because we are all gathered by Christ and around Him, redeemed by His precious Blood and united in His Eucharist."
Vladyka Victor recalled that on July 27 at 1 pm, a festive thanksgiving service will be led by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine on the Vladimir Hill in concelebration with the episcopate and numerous clergy of our Church. After the moleben, a cross procession will take place to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where the Vespers will begin immediately after arrival. The next day, July 28, the Primate will lead the solemn Divine Liturgy on the square in front of the Assumption Cathedral of the Lavra, which begins at 9 am.
“By participating in the Cross Procession and festive services, we will all together reaffirm our strong faith in Christ and testify to our nationwide unity before God,” the bishop emphasized.
As the UOJ reported, the Chancellor of the UOC spoke about the miraculous icons at the cross procession on July 27.
