On July 24, 2021, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov, announced that the United States controls the Patriarchate of Constantinople, reports RIA Novosti.
On the air of the Russia 24 TV channel, the official said that “the actions of Constantinople are directly manipulated from Washington” and “have nothing to do with the ideals of Orthodoxy, with the traditions on the basis of which the interaction of Local Churches has always been organized”.
In his opinion, this interaction is now grossly violated. “This is pressure in the sense that it requires efforts to counteract such absolutely unacceptable actions,” Lavrov said.
As reported earlier, Sergei Lavrov said the Phanar's mission is to bury the influence of Orthodoxy at the direction of the United States.
