Pilgrims from Georgia, who arrived in Ukraine to participate in the celebrations of the 1033rd anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’, visited Kyiv monasteries and the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

The trip was blessed Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia. The Pilgrimage Centre of the UOC provided the reception and escort along the route.

On July 27 and 28, the guests from Georgia took part in the Great Cross Procession and the festive Liturgy at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, during which His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry conveyed greetings to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Georgia.

The pilgrims venerated the saints in the caves and visited the Kyiv centre with its churches, and on July 29 they visited the Jonah and Vvedensky Monasteries, as well as monasteries in Kitaevo, Holoseevo and Feofaniya.

Then the believers of the GOC went to the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra and spent three days there, taking part in divine services.

Earlier, the UOC denied rumors about the refusal of the Patriarch of Georgia to send an official delegation to Kyiv to participate in the celebrations dedicated to the Day of Rus’ Baptism.
