On August 21, 2024, the Sosnivka District Court of Cherkasy imposed a nighttime house arrest on Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv. This was reported by Suspilne.media.
Metropolitan Theodosiy joined the hearing via video link. Prosecutor Oleksandr Zavhorodnyi requested round-the-clock house arrest, claiming that there was a risk of repeated offenses: "We believe that there is a need to impose a preventive measure, as the defendant is based in another region, and there is a likelihood of repeated offenses."
The metropolitan’s lawyer, Volodymyr Yudin, proposed consolidating the criminal cases being considered in different courts, but the court ruled that each case should be considered separately. As a result, the prosecutor’s motion was partially granted – Metropolitan Theodosiy was placed under nighttime house arrest from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
As the UOJ previously reported, American lawyer Robert Amsterdam stated that the authorities might face consequences for offering a swap deal to Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv.
