On August 9, on the day of the holy Great Martyr Panteleimon, the UOC community in the village of Kalnivtsi, the Kytsman Deanery of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy, celebrated its patron saint feast in a new church, which was built after the seizure of the old one by OCU activists, reports the eparchy’s press service.

The priests of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy, believers from neighbouring villages and Chernivtsi took part in the festivities. All-night vigil and Liturgy were celebrated in the new church.

A procession with the icon of the Great Martyr Panteleimon was held around the church, and the walls of the church were sprinkled with holy water. The rector of the church in Kalnivtsi, Archpriest Anthony, thanked the clergy and believers for the joint prayer.

Construction work in the temple is still ongoing. The walls have been raised and the domes installed, but the facade work, interior decoration and painting still have to be done.

As reported, two years ago the UOC community in Kalnivtsi was expelled from the church by supporters of the OCU.
