On August 15, 2021, the believers of the Vinnytsia diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church protested against the arrival of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to Ukraine, according to the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
During the divine service in the Josaphat Valley, believers of the Vinnytsia diocese were holding posters which described their attitude to the visit of the head of Phanar to Ukraine: “Bartholomew – you are not a peacemaker, but a destroyer of the Church of Christ!”, “Bartholomew! We are not waiting for you! " and “Bartholomew! You are not the Ecumenical Patriarch, but the Ecumenical Robber!"
The flashmob "Bartholomew, we did not invite you!" against the arrival of the head of Phanar to Ukraine was initiated in the churches of the Zaporizhia diocese. It takes place on social networks with the hashtag #STOPBARTHOLOMEW. The initiative was relayed by the Odessa diocese, which called on all concerned believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to join it.
Also, the flashmob against the arrival of the head of Phanar was supported by the Ternopil and Rivne dioceses of the UOC.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the believers of the UOC are urged to testify to their faith before the head of Phanar and come on August 21, 2021, at 9:00 to the building of the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv.
