On August 17, 2021, at a regular meeting of the Holy Synod, chaired by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Metropolitan Melety (Yegorenko) of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna was appointed head of the DECR UOC, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

The Holy Synod made a number of personnel decisions due to the fact that His Grace Metropolitan Mitrofan of Luhansk and Alchevsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations and a permanent member of the Holy Synod, passed to the Lord on June 18, 2021.

His Grace Metropolitan Melety of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna was appointed Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations and a permanent member of the Holy Synod.

As reported, the Holy Synod of the UOC has appointed a new chancellor of the Luhansk Eparchy.
