Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban spoke about his relationship with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, referring to her as "a sister in Christ", according to Nova News.
He emphasized that such connections had not previously played an important role in European politics, but the situation is now changing. "We are moving towards a new era, and having the same cultural foundations is becoming much more significant than before," Orban noted.
Speaking about Meloni, he added: "She is not just my colleague; she is a Christian sister to me." Orban also stressed that this idea has important political significance for both Hungary and Italy. He expressed confidence that the cultural aspects of politics will once again become a linchpin of the European agenda.
Earlier, Giorgia Meloni, commenting on Orban's peace initiatives on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington, said: "If these initiatives could bring even a glimpse of peace and diplomacy, I would only welcome them." However, she noted that Orban did not have a mandate for such peace missions.
Previously, Viktor Orban accused politicians in Brussels, Berlin, and Paris of contributing to the "decline of Christian culture and the promotion of Islam".
