Speaker of the Riigikogu (Estonian Parliament, - Ed.) Lauri Hussar expressed the opinion that Estonia should not have allowed the activities of the Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate on its territory, reports ERR.

“In my opinion, the establishment of the Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Estonia and the state's consent to it was a mistake from the very beginning. In fact, we have created two Orthodox churches: one subordinate to Constantinople and the other to Moscow,” Hussar said.

In his opinion, the real estate agreements made with the EOC were not justified.

The speaker of the Riigikogu emphasized that the Russian Orthodox Church openly supports Russian aggression against Ukraine, which, according to him, is unacceptable on the territory of Estonia.

As reported earlier, the Estonian Interior Ministry commented on the decision of the Estonian Orthodox Church to amend its charter and remove the mentioning of the Moscow Patriarchate, saying it is not sufficient.
