The faith of Orthodox Ukrainians is involved in political events and experience. This was announced by Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople on August 22 at the IV International Volunteer and Veteran Forum "Ukraine 30. Defenders".

According to the head of Phanar, Ukraine is "an ancient country that is constantly being renewed, which has been washed by centuries of blood, afflictions and great sacrifice, but this is the land that provided everything to the Slavic peoples, both the holy Orthodox faith in all its glory and infinite wisdom."

The Orthodox Church, according to Patriarch Bartholomew, "is the conductor of the practices and teachings of peace and justice, therefore the faith of Orthodox Ukrainians is involved in these social, cultural, religious and political events and experiences."

In addition, according to him, Ukrainians are "symbolically anointed by our Church and are now united."

“We pray for the strengthening of all interreligious and intercultural initiatives in Ukraine, because they lead to a more holistic, peaceful and constructive society. The Ecumenical Church promotes such a dialogue and is ready to help Ukraine achieve such transparency,” he added.

Earlier, Patriarch Bartholomew prayed for an end to the "fratricidal war" in Ukraine in 2017.
