Bishop Viktor Bed' of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) shared his proposed strategy for Ukraine's exit from the war on his Facebook page, outlining his vision of priorities for the country's euro-Atlantic future. In his address, he suggested strategic steps that, in his opinion, would help Ukraine achieve victory and ensure its security.
Firstly, Bed emphasized the need to end the Russian-Ukrainian war as soon as possible with the involvement of international partners. He stated that it is impossible to defeat Putin's regime militarily without risking a third world war. Therefore, Ukraine may need to temporarily accept territorial losses while continuing to consider the occupied territories as being seized in violation of international law.
Bed's second priority is Ukraine's immediate accession to the European Union. He suggested postponing the issue of NATO membership for now, focusing efforts on EU integration, which would facilitate the future resolution of joining the alliance.
In addition, he believes that after exiting the war, Ukraine should receive security guarantees equivalent to NATO provisions for EU countries to protect its controlled territories. The OCU bishop also highlighted the importance of maintaining and strengthening sanctions against Russia until the complete liberation of all occupied territories.
He concluded that the proposed strategy is a realistic plan for achieving Ukraine's victory.
As reported by the UOJ, earlier, the "Mukachevo and Carpathian Bishop" of the OCU, Viktor Bed', criticized the New Year address of President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling it a "shameful speech by a temporary head of state."
