On 17 October 2024, Canadian lawyer Robert Amsterdam, head of the law firm "Amsterdam & Partners", sharply condemned the police inaction, as well as the incitement and encouragement from the city authorities regarding the actions of the invaders of the Archangel Michael Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cherkasy, in his account on X (Twitter).

Robert Amsterdam believes that the events happening at the UOC temple in Cherkasy are "part of Zelensky's victory plan – the complete destruction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church."

Amsterdam called for immediate action from Ukraine's Western colleagues, noting that the raiders opened fire and wounded Orthodox believers trying to defend the temple.

"Tear gas was used against the people, and money and an icon were stolen from the church," the lawyer wrote.

Robert Amsterdam described the actions of the raiders as disgraceful: "This is shameful and deserves resolute condemnation from Ukraine's allies," emphasized the Canadian lawyer.

As previously reported by the UOJ, unknown individuals in camouflage seize Cherkasy cathedral on their second attempt.
