On 18 October, a delegation from the Odesa Eparchy of the UOC travelled to the frontline Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region, where they delivered 500,000 hryvnias raised at charitable fairs, food packages, and hygiene products, reports the eparchy’s press service.
Charitable fairs were held in all churches and monasteries of the UOC in the Odesa region on September 29 and October 14.
"We collected funds to help internally displaced persons from areas where the situation is currently very difficult due to the war. In total, more than half a million hryvnias were raised," the statement said.
The food packages purchased with the collected funds were prepared by the social department of the Odesa Eparchy.
The trip was blessed by Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail as part of the project "Good Unites".
"Compassion for our people, a sincere desire to be there in difficult times, prayer and support – this is everything we strive to do for those who find themselves in a tough situation. We are very grateful to everyone for your participation in the fairs, for your donations and contributions, and simply for being with us," says the message of the eparchy.
As reported by the UOJ, a charitable fair was held in Odesa on September 29, during which 380,000 hryvnias were raised for the assistance and evacuation of residents from frontline areas.
