A book about St. Luke of Crimea presented in Cherkasy Eparchy

On October 2, the Cherkasy Regional Art Museum hosted a presentation of the book entitled "The Main Thing in Life – to Always Do Good", dedicated to St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky), reports the press service of the Cherkasy Eparchy.
The book was published with the blessing and support of Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv and is dedicated to the memory of the outstanding ascetic of Orthodoxy, medical scientist Saint Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky), whose life is inextricably linked with the Cherkasy Eparchy and Cherkasy.
The clergy of the Cherkasy Eparchy, well-known local historians and writers gathered for the presentation of the book.
The presentation was opened by Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv. In his opening remarks, he noted the great importance of the new book for the study and dissemination of the spiritual heritage of St. Luke.
“I have to visit many countries of the world – Saint Luke is well-known everywhere: he is prayed to, respected, his heavenly help is really felt,” Metropolitan Theodosius said.
The compiler of the new book, well-known Cherkasy journalist Galina Kompaniets, deputy mayor of Cherkasy Pavel Valenchuk, one of the oldest workers of the Cherkasy regional archive Valentina Khilobok, local historian and writer from Zolotonosha Vladimir Pobivanets, chief librarian of the local history department of the Cherkasy regional library, Liudmila Demchenko, and Tatyana Kalinovskaya, chairman of the Cherkasy regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Ukraine.
Together with the new book, the presentation participants received gifts from Metropolitan Theodosius.
Metropolitan Theodosius presented the Cherkasy Regional Art Museum a painting depicting one of the main initiated of the memo of remembrance of St. Luke in Cherkasy – the late Metropolitan Sophrony (Dmitruk) of Cherkasy and Kaniv (reposed on June 22, 2020, – Ed.).
At the invitation of the leadership of the regional art museum, Metropolitan Theodosius visited the exhibition halls, getting acquainted with the variety of exhibits and objects of art collected here.
2021 is a jubilee year for Saint Luke of Crimea: the 100th anniversary of the priestly consecration of the future saint, the 95th anniversary of the first visit to the Cherkasy Eparchy and the 25th anniversary of receiving the miraculous relics of St. Luke.
