On 1000th day of war, UOC opens exhibition dedicated to Church's mission

On November 19, 2024, the Church Archaeological Cabinet of the Kyiv Theological Academy opened an exhibition highlighting the Church's mission during 1000 days of resistance against the full-scale Russian invasion. According to the press service of the Kyiv Theological Schools, prior to the opening, a memorial service for the fallen and deceased during the war, as well as a prayer service for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and Ukraine, was held at the Academic Church of St. John of Damascus in the Pokrovsky Monastery in Holosiiv.

The memorial service was led by Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, Rector of the Kyiv Theological Schools, along with the academic clergy, Archpriest Serhiy Ekshiyan, Head of the UOC Synodal Social and Humanitarian Department, representatives of the UOC Military Department, guests, and students of the Kyiv Theological Academy.

The prayer service was also attended by Metropolitan Augustine of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces and Other Military Formations of Ukraine; Archbishop Iona of Obukhiv, Chairman of the Synodal Youth Affairs Department; Archbishop Ambrosiy of Zghurivka, Vice-Rector for Educational Work; Abbess Serafima (Shevchyk), Head of the Synodal Department "Church and Culture" and Abbess of the Holy Archangel Michael Monastery in Odesa; as well as professors, students, and seminarians of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary.

Following the memorial service, Archbishop Ambrosii of Zghurivka led a prayer for the soldiers serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Afterward, the exhibition was officially opened, showcasing the humanitarian and spiritual mission of the Church throughout 1000 days of resistance against the full-scale Russian invasion.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the Kyiv Theological Academy also hosted an exhibition dedicated to the 80th birthday of the Primate of the UOC.
