Representatives of the OCU, who seized the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church of the UOC in the village of Novosilky, Kyiv Region, on October 6, spent a week removing icons and books from the church, discarding them on the property as trash, according to the Dozor_kozak1 Telegram channel.
"When they finished, they called a garbage truck. When UOC priest Fr. Ihor learned of this, he went to plead with them to return the icons and books to him. However, the spiritual occupiers showed no mercy and loaded everything into the garbage truck right in front of the priest," the report states.
The garbage truck later dumped everything on the grounds of an abandoned house, where the UOC parish now holds prayers.
It is noted that at first, the believers and the priest did not realize what had happened until they began finding broken icons, Gospels, Psalters, and other books under piles of trash.
As reported by the UOJ, in Novosilky, OCU raiders led by a UGCC cleric seized the church. The persecuted UOC parish has since begun transforming an abandoned house into a place of prayer.
