St. John the Evangelist community of the UOC in the village of Pyadykivtsi, Chernivtsi region, prayerfully celebrated its patronal feast in the church of the neighbouring village of Nepolokivtsi, reports the press service of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy.
On October 9, in celebration of the memory of the holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, the rector of the community, Archpriest Igor Soroka, performed a festive Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the patronal day in the Church of the Holy Martyrs Vera, Nadezhda, Liubov and their Mother Sophia.
In 2019, The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Pyadykivtsi was seized by supporters of the OCU. But the religious community has remained faithful to the canonical Church and has been attending services in the churches of the UOC located in the neighboring villages for three years.
The UOJ wrote that the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration secretly re-registered the UOC community in Pyadykivtsi to the OCU. Prior to that, the believers reported about the pressure exerted on them and the possible raider seizure of their St. John the Evangelist Church.
